Window Tinting is the process of applying a multi layered Window Film to the inside surface of your windows to provide protection against harmful UV and IR rays while reducing Heat and Glare.
The process includes cutting the film to the size and shape of your window before thoroughly cleaning the glass in preparation. A backing sheet is then removed from the film revealing an adhesive layer to which bonds the film to the glass once applied and the majority of the water solution used to position the film is squeegeed out.
Window Film is defined in darkness by a percentage or ‘T’ (transparency) rating. The means that the lower the number of percentage or ‘T’, the darker the film is. This determines the amount of light that is allowed to pass through the film.
Our Darkest Legal films are rated at 35% or T35 and therefore they keep 65% of the light out.
As of recently the law has changed to allow our Silhouette 20% or T20 to be applied legally to the rear section of your vehicle. This is to provide a ‘Privacy Glass’ look to the vehicle.
Keep in mind that your darkest legal tint will appear darker at night or when the rear of the car is facing the sun; and will look lighter when the front windscreen is facing the sun, as the light will stream unopposed into the car, making the interior lighter.

Most vehicles will take approx 2-3 hours for the tinting process to be completed. The process may take longer if there is existing window film to be removed.
You must leave your windows up for at least 48 hours. If windows are rolled down before that time frame the tint often peels off because it has not had enough time to cure. Should this happen we can redo your window at a low cost, but it is not covered under the warranty.
You may notice a streaky effect, and even what looks like bubbles in the windows. This is quite normal, as there is still moisture between the glass and the film which needs to dry out before the adhesive totally cures. Please allow up to 3 weeks for the film curing process to be completed.
Clean the film with a soft cloth and do not use Windex or any other ammonia-based products. We suggest to clean your tinted windows with a ‘Tint Safe’ or ‘Ammonia free’ window cleaner and a clean microfiber cloth.
The black dots, or matrix patters, as well as the lines at the top of some windows are made of a Teflon material that is applied at the factory. Purely cosmetic, they hide trim lines and edges on different styles of autos. The thickness of these Teflon-type areas makes them incredibly difficult when applying window tint.
Window tint is designed to adhere directly to the glass. The black lines across the top of some windows can prevent window tint from sticking and cannot be covered. When black dots are encountered, the window tint sticks to the slightly raised dot. This can give, depending on the thickness of the material, a lighter or different look in the area of the black matrix dots.
This poses no risk of peeling. In some cases, the dot pattern or lines usually put at the top of some windows are so thick that it makes it impossible for the tint to stick to the glass inbetween the dot matrix.
UV rays from the sun that are responsible for damaging your car’s interior and excessive heat build-up are usually the cause of bubbles forming in the window tint. The bubbles are a result of a failure in the films adhesive. You can protect yourself from this potential problem by opting for one of our films on offer. All of our films have a high temperature adhesive system and 99% of UV protection capabilities, which allows them to give a manufacture backed guarantee against fading and bubbling.
Newer cars will most likely have some form of antenna embedded in the glass. To combat this our whole range of films are non-metalised to ensure good reception through the window tint.
